I sat down the other night and tabbed out Whisky Man on my own. Once
I dug into it, I found it was really pretty basic.
My tab is on the Southern Rock Guitar Homepage as well as here:
http://users.adelphia.net/~toddab/tab/whiskyman.txt
I'm not sure if I am playing it right. I tried several different
ways, but I find I like the way I tabbed it the most. With all the
hammer-ons, it's easier to groove in the pocket.
The only other songs I have tabbed out are Gimme Three Step by Skynyrd
and Born To Boogie by Hank Williams Jr. Again, I'm not sure how close
I am, but I'm getting by playing what I've tabbed.

My thanks to everyone who assisted me with tab requests and checking
out the tabs I've written. Our first gig on Super Bowl Sunday went
very well and we were very well received.
I'm currently putting together a website for the band. It is not
finished yet, so it is not available in general, but I have posted a
preview at:
http://users.adelphia.net/~toddab/southernedgeband/
Most of the links go to "under construction" pages, but there are
pictures from the 02/05/06 gig in the Gallery.
Feedback is not only appreciated, but necessary!

Post by inc0gnit0We have Wishing Well and Train Train in the bag... They're no problem.
The root stuff on Whisky Man is also no big deal, it's just the bass
runs and fills that are leaving me in the dust....
I'm a guitarist first. I just don't have the library of bass licks
under my belt to be able to pick stuff up quickly by ear...
In fact... Our lead singer is Paul Patton, who is featured on The
Southern Rock Allstars website as a guest artist on vocals and
harmonica. You can be sure he blows a mean Train, Train!
And since the death of Jakson Spires from Blackfoot, our drummer -
Galen Blubaugh (Blue Balls) has been filling in on occasion whenever
SRA play close enough for him to travel to the venue.
So you can imagine, I am under a tremendous amount of pressure to
produce for these cats. Any assistance that anyone can throw my way
on just about ANY southern rock is greatly appreciated!
In the past eight weeks, I've learned thirty-five new songs as well as
bought a new bass (Dean Bromberg), amp (Ampeg SVT-3 Pro) and speaker
cab (Peavey 4x12). My fingers, my brain, and my bank account are all
suffering, but I'm having the time of my life!
To add to the pressure, I'm also in charge of the live sound rig...
Highway Song is on the list, but we've put it off in order to build
the song library with easier stuff for me to learn and get polished
quickly. There is ALOT of other stuff on the list for me tackle...
I found the tab for Flirtin' With Disaster and have that one knocked
out and up to speed.
I just need a better resource for bass tabs and sheet music so I can
learn at the pace that the band needs me to.
Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo was last night's chore...
I'm working on Gimme Three Steps right now - supposed to have it ready
for tomorrow - but all the tabs online are way wrong. I have the
intro, verse, and solo worked out, but the chorus is throwing me.
I desperately need to develop my bass ear, and fast!
Thanks for all the help!!!
