I've got a Traynor 2-15 with RCF's in the box for sale, will handle 800
watts . 104 db@ 1 watt meter. $400.00 Canadian. Can deliver a reasonable
distance.

Hmmm...tryin' to 'member....did the Coliseum come with two 410s......FWIW, I
have a Concert with a 215....left it in my brother's garage 20 years ago....and
it's still there...under cover and still like new....But, does anyone care?

Actually, your brother has been renting it out to a small family of
Hatians, as a 2 story Arcadian. Sad times.

For some reason, I am not seeing the follow up posts to my request, except
for this one.

The Sunn Coliseum bass cabinets were 30"x30"x15" and contained one Vega 18"
speaker. When they spoke, you had no choice but to know they were there.

I had a couple of these in the seventies. One cabinet with a three hundred
watt head was capable of loafing in all but the very largest clubs. Despite
the popular misconception, they were crisp and solid. They cost $500 per
cabinet in 75 and they were built like tanks. Why I ever parted with mine, I
will never understand. I also owned and liked the Acoustic 301 folded horn
cabinet with the same speaker.

As you might imagine, I cannot conceive of how anyone could play anything
larger than their bedroom with a cabinet sporting just two 10" speakers.
That's progress, I guess.

It's just been a few people saying they had various 2x15 cabs they might
be willing to sell. Try google groups, see if you can see the thread
there.

Thanks.

I'm really hooked on the seismic experience provided by the 18" speaker
equipped Sunn Coliseum Bass enclosures.

Once experienced, even at low volume, there is no going back to those
"weenie" speakers. <G>

Did you know that Fender now owns Sunn? I read that they are looking at the
old stuff and deciding on what to reissue.

Some of the new Fender amps "look" like the ones SUNN was making just a
few years back. The Bassman 300 pro head for example.

Must be just a coincidence that they bought Sunn out, kept the brand for a few
years then canned the company, then came out with "new" Fender amps that are
very similar to the Sunns huh??? ;-)

I would buy a Sunn Colosseum Bass cabinet in a heartbeat. I loved those
enclosures and the Acoustic 301. Hernia be damned.

If you young fellows think we old farts aren't into large speakers, keep in
mind that I have three 18" bass enclosures and two 18" subwoofers in my
garage at this very moment.

Some Chinese manufacturer should take the hint and produce a clone of one of
these cabinets and sell it for $350. They'd sell a bunch of them to we old
farts. Flatwound strings and 18" bass speakers - ahhhhh....

Yes,those were the days, my friend we thought they'd never end...

My Kustom 250 with the 18" "W" box, a B3 with a couple Leslie's, those Altec
Lansing powered cabinets (I can't remember the model number), up a few
flights of stairs, no problem -- we were in our 20's. :-)

No wonder I'm part of the Vicodin for lunch bunch...

I never saw the big Kustom enclosure you mentioned. I had the lower model
with a 2x15" enclosure and then bought the powered satellite version of the
same thing. Both of mine were in black.

Compared to the Acoustic 371, the Kustoms sounded noisy, flat and not nearly
as powerful, even considering the difference in power. Still, the Kustoms
looked good, in a strange sort of way.

I never thought that I would live to see the day when I could buy a 300 watt
bass amp head for $200 that actually sounded good (Behringer 3000T). Unreal.

Egads!!! Vintage tone!! The bane of my existance!!
i remember at a class at uni (bass workshop) i was chatting with my
teacher about amps and he was saying one of the best tones he got out
of an amp was a crappy little $20 combo he bought...first thing that i
thought was 'my god, how could this be possible!', then he said
'yup...nothing like playing a P-bass through that'...

That's when i realised he meant *that* kind of 'best tone'...

You need to join the retro revolution, Kristoff. 6 strings with new
roundwounds are no longer cool. Fenders and 5 year old flatwounds are
now what's cool in bass.

I love the vintage sound, but forget the five year old flatwounds. I change
mine every month.
