Alec John Such - keep the faith problems...

From what I can tell with my ears this is quite accurate:
http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/tabs/b/bon_jovi/keep_the_faith_btab.htm
except... not all of it fits. I've done my best but there are a couple of
things that are escaping me right now.
For the end of the verse where there's a C Eb F which is repeated in the
solo part..
I can't seem to fit this nicely with the patttern the bassist is playing and
tends to go into a single tone quarter note sequence - doesn't sound good
anyhow...
The other part I have some trouble with are the chords for the
Drums/keys/vocals (no guitar or bass) before the solo. I want to accent this
so the right chords would really help.

Now for the interesting bit... our singer wants to sing this in A... I'd be
happy to oblige... Any ideas? Maybe tune up the D string?

Thanks.

It wasn't Alec John Such that played that.. It was Hugh McDonald the Studio guy that is now the touring bass player with bonjovi that played it.
He used a Sadowsky 5 string.. He usually tunes the 5 down a 1/2 step but I do not know if he did for the recording sessions.

Yup. Hugh McDonald actually ghosted many of the basslines even when Alec John Such was in the band. Alec was a mediocre bassist at best, and really struggled to hold his own even live. He was eventually fired from Bon Jovi because he constantly screwed up the bass parts live, and they became sick of it.

I met the guys from Bon Jovi in the late 80's.......all very nice guys...except
Alec John Such, a big dickhead!!!! I wasn't surprised when I heard he was
ghosted, usually the least talented have the biggest egos....it's a form of
fear!

I have heard from a very reliable source. The bonjovis were recording a TV
show LIVE for later broadcast in the UK from a large stadium. Hugh McDonald
who was not in the band yet was flown in to overdub all the bass parts
before the final mix and broadcast could occur.
Things like Alec having his left finger in the wrong fret while singing and
Jon would have to move his hand into the correct position. I guess he was
doing too muck posing and not enough playing.
Poor note value too. and just not locking with the drums at all.
I saw Bonjovi a few months ago and the had Hugh nice and loud in the PA.
First time I heard the bass that well in a Rock type show.
Hugh is a great player and it is about time that he got noticed for all his
work. He has also played with many other stars. Ringo, Alice Cooper, Michael
Bolton, Cher,Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Gladys Knight, Willie
Nelson, Bromberg, Steve Forbert, Phoebe Snow, Urge Overkill, John
Prine,Ricky Martin and Phoebe Snow to name a few.

That just amazes me. Your entire job is to play bass in a rock band.
That's *all* you have to focues on. And those bass lines aren''t really
that demanding. How can you blow such a sweet gig!?!?

Because... ummm... you suck?

My money is on being more interested on the scene than the gig, tho

I'd like to know how he lasted as long as he did.
He wouldn't keep 3 gigs in a row in my circles if he really screwed up all
the time.
He must have had some dirt on the rest of the band.
Maybe he hid Jon's hairspray and wouldn't give it back until just before
each show.

good source. Jon is very loyal... until the line is crossed... and it took
alot to cross that line.
but it was.. hugh was the logical choice since he played all the stuff on
every record.. and knew the guys for years..
